Toques From The Heart was founded while in summer school at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario by two friends and commerce students, Matthew and Casey. They both wanted to start a business with a meaningful and positive social impact. Beginning with a simple idea of collecting knit hockey socks and repurposing them into toques, Toques From The Heart set out on a mission to support homeless Canadians, one toque at a time.

Selling toques at hockey tournaments
We attended LUG hockey’s first playoff game of the season where we sold toques, collected socks, and spread the word about our cause. After selling toques directly to hockey players, we decided to create a special line of NHL hockey team toques, as well as the option to reach out to us directly for custom team toques.

In our first four months, together we gave away 500 toques to Canadians experiencing homelessness. We also collected 1200 hockey socks, many of which were repurposed into the toques we give.
Our toques that we sell have been completely redesigned with improved quality and looks. They are double-layered for added warmth and comfort and they are now softer, stretchier, and more durable than ever. We sell both plain toques and NHL team toques. You wouldn't guess our new toques would be made out of hockey sock material unless we told you.
We fully restructured our operations and are now able to make a larger social impact selling and giving toques Canada wide. Read our news article for more information:
